Prince Soyiga Leads Charge For Greener Future In Ikorodu Constituency 1

Prince Soyiga Samuel Adeshina, the Deputy Speaker and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency 1, at the Lagos State Youth Parliament, with staff of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), chieftains of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and others, during the tree planting exercise he initiated in four schools in Ikorodu Constituency I

Prince Soyiga Samuel Adeshina, the Deputy Speaker and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency 1, at the Lagos State Youth Parliament, has joined in the protection of the environment by planting trees at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) and three secondary schools in Ikorodu Constituency I.

The exercise was in commemoration of the 2024 World Tree Planting Day.

The other three locations were Government Technical College, Ikorodu, Ayangbure High School, lkorodu and Government Model College, Owutu.

The tree planting exercise commenced at LASUSTECH, in the presence of the Dean of Students Affairs, staff of the Information Unit, security officials, the Students’ Union President of the institution and his executive members, students from the Department of Environmental Biology, and members of the Students Press Club.

In the vein, staff and students of the secondary schools where trees were also planted, including the principals and teachers, witnessed the exercise.

While addressing the students, Prince Soyiga advised the students to be cautious and deliberate about their environment.

He charged them on the need to engage in tree planting, avoid improper disposal of waste and non-biodegradable materials.

To sustain trees he planted across the four institution and secondary schools in Ikorodu, the Deputy Speaker, Lagos State Youth Parliament, charged students and staff to take ownership of the initiative by consistently watering the trees to prevent them from dying.

According to Prince Soyiga, the initiative was supported by Publisher of the Waves magazine, Mr. Lamina Azeez; NAIDS National President, Comrade Ogunjimi Olamide; Representative of Shomolu Constituency 2 at the Lagos State Youth Parliament, Hon. Oguns Suliyat, NYCN Coordinator Ikorodu Local Government, Comrade Ogunsanmi Basit, NYCN Coordinator Ikorodu West, Comrade Anu and his executive members, and a representative of the Deaf Union.

Also present were the President of Ikorodu Students Association, Comrade Toba-Dosumu Lateef Ayomide, President of Ikorodu West Students Union, Comrade Oloruntade Idris, among others.

Prince Soyiga expressed his gratitude to Hon. Jimi Benson, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Mr. Azeez Lamina (Waves) Hon. Salau Rukayat Ajibike, Mr. Kunle Adelabu, Princess Aderoju Ladega, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Mr. Arowojobe Adepote and Oreoluwa Ogundele, for their moral support and for embracing the idea.
